What is propolis
Propolis is a substance consisting of gums and resins collected by bees from the buds of trees, enriched with wax, pollen, enzymes and other substances and use it to seal and disinfect the inside of the nest. The designation is due to the fact that bees place it in front of the entrance of the hive (before the city) in order to reduce and prevent the entrance to the nest of various enemies.
Chemical composition:
The propolis contains resins and balsams 55% wax, 30%, 10% essential oils, 5% pollen, flavonoids and phenolic compounds.
Natural properties:
The propolis varies from cell to cell due to vegetation and the color varies from red, brown-green and dark brown. It is insoluble in water and soluble in alcohol. At temperatures above 25 ° C are soft, flexible and sticks to the hands, while at temperatures below 15 ° C becomes hard and fragile.
